Sharing pictures of himself paying his respects, director Rajkumar Periasamy wrote, "Ten years ago on this day, two brave Heroes #MajorMukundVaradarajan and #SepoyVikram made their supreme sacrifice.

Major Mukund Varadarajan, the recipient of the Ashoka Chakra, had lost his life on 25 April 2014, when he led an anti-terrorist cordon and search operation based on intelligence inputs to clear a village in South Kashmir of terrorists.

Actor Sivakarthikeyan is playing Major Mukund Varadarajan in the film, which will be about his actions during a counterterrorism operation while on deputation to the 44th Rashtriya Rifles battalion in Jammu and Kashmir, who which he was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra.
