Rajkot city police, municipal commissioner shunted out

AHMEDABAD: The

Gujarat govt

transferred

Rajkot city police

and municipal commissioners on Monday in response to the

TRP Game Zone fire

that claimed 28 lives on Saturday, while five officers from

Rajkot Municipal Corporation

and

roads and buildings department

, along with two policemen, were suspended for negligence. The move follows a reprimand from Gujarat high court regarding the illegal operation of the recreational facility.
Raju Bhargava, a 1995-batch IPS officer, was removed as the police chief and replaced by Brajesh Kumar Jha, a 1999-batch IPSofficer. Bhargava is awaiting a new posting.
The RMC commissioner, Anand Patel was transferred, with Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority CEO DP Desai appointed in his place. Home department also transferred ACP Vidhi Chaudhary and DCP Sudhir Desai, who are awaiting new postings.
