THANE:

Congress leader

and MP

Rahul Gandhi

is likely to visit and address residents in Thane - the Shiv Sena bastion and stronghold of chief minister Eknath Shinde- during his

Bharat Jodo Nyaay Yatra

that will pass through the city next week, city party president Vikrant Chavan informed.
Chavan made the announcement following a review with senior Congress leader and MLA Balasaheb Thorat of probable spots in the city and suburbs where the Gandhi scion is likely to visit and conduct road shows in addition to addressing the locals sometime between Mar 13 and 16.

“Gandhi will start his Thane district rally from Bhiwandi and will arrive at Kalwa and Mumbra where he is likely to conduct a road show and also address residents and finally move towards Thane. A public address is likely to be done at Jambhli naka following which he will move to Mumbai where the Bharat Jodo Nyaay Yatra is scheduled to culminate,” informed Chavan.
This incidentally, will be Gandhi’s first visit to the lake city. It may be recalled that Rahul Gandhi had earlier crossed Thane to attend a court hearing in Bhiwandi. Leader said this address could be considered as a morale booster for grass root level workers in the district especially ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. Thane was once considered a stronghold of Congress which is now dominated by the Shiv Sena and BJP.
