In view of the rising temperatures and extreme heat waves hitting the region, the Punjab government has announced that all schools in the state will remain closed for summer vacation from May 21 to June 30, 2024.
This decision to prepone the Punjab school summer vacations aims to ensure the health and well-being of students during the peak of the summer season.
The Punjab School Holiday Calendar 2024 was released in December by the state government, providing a comprehensive list of all scheduled holidays and vacations for the year.
On Sunday, the Haryana government also took a step to tackle the heatwave by changing school timings from May 18 to May 31.
A scorching heatwave is gripping northern India, with temperatures soaring to 47°C in Delhi amid severe weather alerts. Parts of North India, including Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi, are facing extreme heat conditions, with the India Meteorological Department issuing warnings.
The brutal heatwave is expected to persist for the next few days, intensifying the sweltering conditions across the region. Residents are urged to take precautions and stay hydrated to combat the blistering heatwave sweeping through North India.
