Chasing 191, Punjab Kings openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran put on 44 for the first wicket. At that stage, PBKS were 116/2 after 13 overs, needing 75 from 42 balls.

Shreyas Iyer tried to finish things in style but was bowled by a full delivery from Pathirana for a sublime 72 off 41 balls.
Punjab's captain also received high praise from Preity Zinta.

"Captain’s knock, openers’ fifty, an amazing hattrick & stunning catches! What a brilliant chase on a tricky ground, almost giving me a last-over heart attack.
"So proud of the way Sadda Punjab played. I’m a happy girl tonight. Ting!"
With the win, Shreyas Iyer's team is currently placed second with 13 points, while CSK became the first team to be eliminated from the playoff race.
