Pope Leo XIV was spotted wearing a Chicago White Sox hat recently at the Vatican, even though the White Sox are already over 20 games out of first place in their division.
According to MLB.com, the leader of the worldwide Catholic Church is now "the world's most famous White Sox fan" and his support seems to carry a lot of weight. The same outlet reported White Sox manager Will Venable's reaction to the news: "I read something about that. Yeah, I mean, it’s great. I love the support. Need it.”
But you don't have to be one of the most influential people in the world to offer support to your favorite MLB team.
We can all do that. It's why I wear my Texas Rangers hat around the city of Houston during the summer, and why you probably should do the same for your team, no matter where they are in the standings or where you happen to live.
In my opinion, Pope Leo XIV just offered a great example of how anyone can and probably should show support for their favorite MLB team.
