BARASAT/KOLKATA: After addressing a public meeting, PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday met five women from Sandeshkhali who had accused

Sheikh Shahjahan

and his

associates

of forcing them to visit

Trinamool Congress

offices after midnight. The PM assured them justice.
After the meeting, the five women met the PM in a makeshift VIP room near the stage. Tears in their eyes, they narrated their ordeal to the PM and claimed that they were told to go to

TMC offices

well past midnight, where they faced sexual harassment. They also named

Shahjahan

as the main perpetrator. The women added that Shahjahan's arrest had not given them any respite and his associates were still intimidating them.
Modi listened to their plight for 20 minutes and assured them justice.
"They said that Modiji listened to them like a guardian of the family. They were afraid of the backlash from local TMC leaders after they returned to their villages. Many reached late, and we collected their detailed testimonies. We have already filed a writ petition with the

Calcutta HC

. These testimonies will be part of that," said Priyanka Tibrewal, advocate and a

Bengal BJP

leader.

Meanwhile, some women who reached the venue late, started agitating near the stage and demanded a chance to meet Modi. They alleged that their buses had been stopped twice at Biswa Bangla gate in New Town and then at Dak Bungalow More in Barasat by police. Bengal BJP said it would send testimonials of these women to the PMO.
