KOLKATA: Trinamool
Congress
Saturday said despite Bengal
CM
Mamata Banerjee not attending the
INDIA bloc
meeting due to prior commitments, the party continued to play a "pivotal role" in the alliance.
Party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said: "
TMC
is playing a pivotal role... it is a strong alliance partner, an important partner. The CM is among the most important senior faces of this alliance, she is a mass leader with pan-India appeal."
"The moot question is whether there is communication between TMC and the alliance partners. There is communication," Ghosh added.pointing out that Banerjee could not attend the meet at last-moment information, and like TMC, a few other parties also could not attend it.
Debunking opposition claims of a fissure between the alliance partners, Ghosh said: "INDIA is now BJP's headache. So, they are busy attacking INDIA and TMC.
This is pure panic. They are feeling visibly uneasy by this alliance. If it is unimportant (for BJP), why keep on talking about it?"
