Actor Parth Samthaan has addressed the criticism that followed his casting as the new ACP in the iconic television show CID 2, replacing Shivaji Satam. He admitted he wasn’t expecting the trolling but said he understands the audience’s emotional attachment to the iconic character.
Expressing his admiration for Shivaji Satam’s portrayal of ACP Pradyuman, Parth clarified that he isn’t trying to fill his shoes, but rather bring something fresh to the show. Speaking to India Forums, Parth said, "Honestly, I didn’t expect the trolling to be this intense. I understand where it’s coming from. Even I have been a fan of Shivaji Sir and the original characters. If I were in the viewers’ place, I’d probably feel the same seeing someone new step into such a loved role."
He continued to explain, "I’ve come to CID with a purpose, and that will be revealed through the storyline. Right now, Ayushman doesn’t share a bond with other officers, and that tension will play out. Replacing a legend is never easy. I’m not here to fill his shoes but to bring something new while respecting the legacy."
Parth Samthaan plays ACP Ayushmann in the new season. In an interview with Saas Bahu Aur Betiyaan, Parth expressed the immense responsibility of taking over such a well-established character.
He said, "When I discussed it with my family, they thought I was joking. But when I told them I was doing it seriously, they were very proud. It's actually a very big responsibility to fill in such shoes, such humongous shoes of ACP Pradyuman, since I'm replacing him as ACP Ayushman. It's a new character, a new story. We will take the story forward with new thrills and suspense. I never thought I would be part of such a collaboration. This is a cross-collaboration for me. I'm glad to be a part of such an iconic show."
According to the storyline, ACP Ayushmann is brought in to solve the murder case of ACP Pradyuman. Parth explained that his character will be investigating the murder of ACP Pradyuman while tackling other cases. He noted that his character differs from the former ACP, adding a fresh dynamic to the show.
