Panchayat president arrested for assaulting private firm employee in TN

CHENNAI:

Tiruvallur district police

on Wednesday arrested the panchayat president of

Ulundhai village

on charges of assaulting a staffer of a private firm.
Mappedu police

booked panchayat president MK Ramesh on a complaint from K Chinnamuniyandi, an HR manager at a private engineering firm in Mappedu.
According to the complaint filed by Chinnamuniyandi, he along with his colleagues went to the panchayat office in connection with a notice his firm had received regarding a land issue.

He added that Ramesh verbally abused them for not bringing the owner of the land with whom the firm had a dispute.
During an argument that ensued Ramesh slapped Chinnamuniyandi and tried to strangle the HR executive. Plant head came to his rescue. After getting treated in a hospital for his injuries, Chinnamuniyandi filed a complaint at Mappedu police station. Police registered a case and arrested the panchayat president.
In September 2023 too, Ramesh was booked by Mappedu police for allegedly threatening a land owner.
