Over 4.2 lakh students appear for SSLC exams

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The SSLC

examinations

for the year 2023-24 began on Monday.
As many as 4,27,105 candidates have registered for the examination taking place in 2,971

centres

across the state, besides Lakshadweep and the Gulf countries. Of these, 2,17,525 are boys and 2,09,580 are

girl students

.
According to the general education department statistics, the highest number of students appearing for the examinations that will come to a close on March 25 are from the aided school sector.

While 1,43,557 candidates have registered for the examination from government schools, 2,55,360 students have registered from the aided schools.
As many as 28,188 students will be appearing for the exam in unaided schools. The number of students taking the examination from centres in the Gulf countries this time is 536. From Lakshadweep, 285 students are attending the examination. Apart from them, 26 candidates have registered for the examination in the old scheme.
The highest number of candidates appearing for the examination are from Malappuram education district (28,180). The education district with the lowest number of candidates is Kuttanad in Alappuzha (1,843). The evaluation of answer papers will be held in two phases from April 3 to 20.
