MI all rounder Romario Shepherd is confident that his team can script a turnaround in their remaining fixtures of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024). Notably, Mumbai are reeling at the second last spot on the points table with just three wins from ten games having six points to their name. The five-time champions have struggled to get going under the leadership of their new skipper Hardik Pandya having won just three matches this season.

As a result, MI find themselves in a precarious situation where they need to win all of their remaining fixtures to stay alive in the playoffs race which still doesn’t guarantee their qualification. Recently addressing the press ahead of MI’s next fixture against KKR , Shepherd revealed the philosophy of the side heading into their last fixtures and said that they will look to in every game and not think about the points they can earn.

“We just have to play to win. That's how we play cricket: to win each game. So it doesn't matter how many points we can score,” said Shepherd at the pre-match press conference.

Further speaking ahead, the West Indies all rounder recalled his breathtaking 32-run over against Anrich Nortje where he smacked the DC seamer for 32 runs and said that it has set the expectation bar high for the fans.

“You know, 32 runs in one over is hard. And you will not get those 32 runs out every game. The expectation is high. So you set the bar high, and people expect you to go there and hit each ball for six and get a boundary and stuff like that. Unfortunately, in the game of cricket, that doesn't happen. And, you know, sometimes you've got to rock and roll with that,” he added.

Notably, Shepherd clobbered Nortje for two fours and four sixes in the final over of the Match 20 in Mumbai which helped his side win their first game of the season. Shepherd will look to play another match-winning knock in the upcoming fixture to help his side end their three-match losing streak in the upcoming fixture.
