NEW YORK (PIX11) – Finding an affordable apartment while having a pet can be a challenge in New York City.
NYC Housing Connect, an online portal that showcases affordable rentals and homes across all five boroughs, reveals what lotteries allow for pets in its listings.
Here's a list of affordable housing lotteries that will allow you to have a pet:
Brooklyn
- 111 Willoughby Street Apartments: One pet up to 25 pounds allowed per unit.
- Atlantic BK: One cat and one dog permitted per household, with a 40-pound weight limit. Exceptions are made for service animals.
- Society Brooklyn at Sackett: Two pets, up to 75 pounds each, are allowed per apartment. There are breed restrictions.
- Society Brooklyn at DeGraw: Two pets, up to 75 pounds each, are allowed per unit. There are breed restrictions.
- Prospect House aka 953 Dean Street Apartments: A maximum of two pets permitted per household, with a 50-pound weight limit. Breed restrictions apply.
- Riseboro TPT Ten: Tenants can have two pets per household. Dogs must be 35 pounds or less. An aquarium of less than 20 gallons is also allowed.
- 129 3rd Street Apartments: Pets up to 25 pounds are allowed.
- The Brighton: One pet permitted per household; up to 25 pounds.
Queens
- CORE NYC: Two pets with a 40-pound weight limit permitted per unit, with some breed restrictions; exceptions are made for service animals. Fish tanks are not allowed.
- Eagle Loft Collection Phase 2: Two cats or one dog allowed per apartment, with a weight limit of 50 pounds. Some breeds are restricted.
- 20 & 30 Halletts Point Apartments: Pets are permitted with size and breed restrictions.
- 2-21 Malt Drive Apartments: Two pets, up to 75 pounds each, are permitted per household. There are breed restrictions.
Manhattan
- Miramar aka West 206th Street Apartments: Limit of two pets, either cats or dogs, per unit. Each pet cannot be larger than 40 pounds. Service animal exceptions apply.
- The Houston aka 280 East Houston Street: One dog up to 45 pounds fully grown permitted, with certain breed restrictions.
- 1026 Third Avenue Apartments: One pet is allowed per household.
- 25 Water Street Apartments: Pets that are less than 75 pounds are allowed.
