NY teen allegedly stabs grandmother to death over laptop: officials

SELDEN, N.Y. (PIX11) – A Selden teenager is accused of killing his grandmother and injuring his mother in a stabbing over his laptop, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

Officials said the 15-year-old boy was arguing with his mother about missing classes at school on April 7 around 9:40 p.m. The teenager’s grandmother told his mother to take away his laptop as punishment, according to prosecutors.

That’s when the 15-year-old allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed his grandmother, officials said. The teenager was then accused of turning the knife on his mother, stabbing her, according to prosecutors.

The 15-year-old’s mother fell to the ground and pretended to play dead while he allegedly continued to stab his grandmother, officials said.

The teenager’s grandmother died at the scene, according to prosecutors. His mother is still recovering from her injuries in a local hospital.

The 15-year-old is facing charges of murder, attempted murder and assault. He’s expected back in court on May 21 and could face 15 years to life in prison if convicted, officials said.
