CHANDIGARH: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini said on Monday there was no threat to the jobs of

Group C and D employees

recruited by Haryana Service Selection Commission (HSSC) under

socio-economic criteria

after the apex court upheld a high court judgment quashing the Haryana policy.
About 23,000 employees were recruited to these posts in Haryana govt after implementation of the criteria since its notification in June 2019.
"We respect the verdict of Supreme Court. Our socio-economic policy was based on 'Antyodaya'. We stand by our policy. No employee will be asked to leave their job on the basis of this verdict," he said.

"If needed, we shall bring legislation in the assembly so that our government will continue to stand with the poor. Whether we are forced to go for a review petition or we have to take this to Vidhan Sabha, we shall do everything. We are with the poor," added Saini.
The SC order gave Haryana opposition a chance to criticise the BJP govt. Ex-CM Bhupinder Hooda was the first to react. "This verdict clearly says govt cannot defend even its own policies in the interest of unemployed youth," he said.
