HYDERABAD: The Congress govt has deferred unveiling the new

Telangana

state

emblem

on June 2 when the decennial celebrations of

state

formation day will be held at Parade Ground in Secunderabad. However, the govt will go ahead with the new

official song

'Jaya Jayahe Telangana', which will be dedicated to people of the state during the grand event on Sunday.
Following a controversy erupting over the alleged moves to remove Charminar and Kakatiya Kala Thoranam from the existing state emblem, chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday announced that no decision had been taken on the

new emblem

and new model of Telangana Thalli statue.
After attending a review meeting with ministerial colleagues, assembly speaker and opposition leaders, Revanth said: "The state cabinet had earlier decided to change the state emblem and Telangana Thalli statue models. Different models are being examined. The models of the emblem and statue will be finalised only after discussing in the state assembly and which will be acceptable to all the political parties without giving scope for misunderstanding and controversies."
New emblem will reflect T's self-respect: CM

The CM said the new emblem will reflect the state's "atma gouravam" (self-respect) and also give inspiration to future generations. The govt received 500 artistic impressions and models from various artists and they were all in the discussion stage only, he said.
Sources said the govt has reportedly taken this decision after leaders and political parties raised serious objections over plans to remove Charminar and Kakatiya Thoranam from the emblem. BRS working president KT Rama Rao visited Charminar on Thursday as a symbolic protest.

Revanth also announced that two versions of 'Jaya Jayahe Telangana' song have been accepted by the govt, which was also cleared by the state cabinet. One version of the song will have a length of 2.30 minutes and another 13.30 minutes. The CM said both versions have been accepted by the govt as official songs. The short length version of the song will be recited at the official programmes.
"The song, which was written by Telangana lyricist Ande Sri 20 years ago, has been accepted without any modifications. Music director Keeravani composed the song," Revanth said.
Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, legislative council chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, ministers N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, TJS chief M Kodandaram, CPI MLA K Sambasiva Rao, CPM state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram and Telangana activists attended the meeting, where the official song was played. All of them gave approval to song.
Revanth further said the state govt has taken up several steps as part of rebuilding Telangana, including changing the vehicle registration initials from TS to TG.
