New couple, 3 kin die in Andhra Pradesh mishap

TIRUPATI: Five of a family including a newly wed couple were killed in a

road accident

in Nandyal district of Andhra Pradesh in the early hours on Wednesday, reports Sandeep Raghavan. The family was returning to Secunderabad after a pilgrimage to Tirumala when the accident occurred.
Mantri Ravinder (55), who was driving the car at the time of the accident, rammed into a stationary truck from behind at a high speed, leading to death of all five travellers.

Others who died in the accident have been identified as Ravinder's wife Lakshmi (50), their son Bala Kiran (30), daughter-in-law Kavya (25) and one Ashok (32). Bala Kiran and Kavya got married on Feb 29. All victims were residents of West Venkatapuram locality in Secunderabad.
Traffic on Kurnool-Kadapa road was affected following the accident. It is not clear if the accident was a result of Ravinder falling asleep or he failed to notice the lorry.
