Naga Babu
, who is the father of actor
Varun Tej
, recently found himself in a
controversy
following comments made during a
pre-release event
for Varun's upcoming film, '
Operation Valentine
, which will be released tomorrow, March 1.
The event was meant to create buzz for
Shakti Pratap Singh
Hada's film, which stars
Manushi Chhillar
. However, it took an unexpected turn when Naga Babu's comments regarding the physical features of a police role caused criticism.
At the event, Naga Babu said that a hero who was 6 feet and 3 inches tall would be a better fit to play a police officer than someone who was smaller in stature.
His remarks sparked outrage, with many accusing him of encouraging body shaming and promoting harmful stereotypes.
In response to the uproar, Naga Babu took to his social media platforms to issue a public apology, expressing regret over his choice of words and clarifying that his remarks were not intended to cause offence.
In his apology post, Naga Babu wrote on X, which translated to "In the recent pre-release event of Varun Babu's 'Operation Valentine,' I said that it would be good if people who are 6 feet 3 inches do the role of a policeman, but it won't hurt if people who are 5 feet 3 inches do it. It came randomly, but not as I wanted. I hope everyone will understand and forgive me. Your Nagababu."
Despite the controversy surrounding Naga Babu's remarks, 'Operation Valentine' continues to generate significant buzz. The movie features Varun Tej portraying the role of an IAF officer, along with Manushi Chhillar as the radar officer. The movie also features Navdeep, Ruhani Sharma, Paresh Pahuja, and Mir Sarwar in key roles. The film is based on the Pulwama and Balakot airstrike events and is expected to offer an enthralling aerial action drama to audiences.
