Mother leaves children unattended in car to go shopping on Long Island: police

VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A Queens Village mother is accused of leaving her 1-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter alone in a car on Wednesday morning, police said.

Sandra Mclamb, 33, left her children in her vehicle and entered a Home Goods on Sunrise Highway in Valley Stream, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Police were notified by a witness who saw the two children crying. Officers arrived, removed the children, and placed Mclamb in custody when she returned to the car.

The children were taken to a local hospital for evaluation and released to a family member, police said.

Mclamb was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. She was expected to be arraigned on Thursday.
