WAKEFIELD, The Bronx (PIX11) -- A 38-year-old mother and her 8-year-old son were found dead in a Bronx residence Friday evening, according to police.
Authorities say the woman and the boy were found unconscious and unresponsive at a home along East 231st Street just before 8:30 p.m. They were pronounced dead on the scene, officials report.
A 4-year-old was also found in the home was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition, police say.
Sources tell PIX11 News the mother and son both had disabilities and that the 4-year-old was left in the apartment with the bodies for an unknown amount of time.
Officials are still working to investigate how the incident may have happened and how the mother and son died.
