NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A new poll by Siena College finds that half of New York State registered voters oppose President Donald Trump's plans for tariffs among other recent moves by the administration.
According to the poll released on Tuesday, 51 percent of New Yorkers voted against putting a 10 percent tariff on imports from every country. Most oppositional votes came from registered democrats and independents while only 18 percent of republicans voted against.
When it came to putting tariffs of 100 percent or more on China, 58 percent of voters were against it including 35 percent of republicans.
The 145 percent tariffs on Chinese imports are expected to stall shipments and lower sales, as well as impact many local businesses that sell products from China.
The president has stalled tariffs for most other countries for at least three months.
