BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) --- An exhibit featuring Claude Monet's most famous Venetian artwork is coming to New York City this fall.
Monet and Venice will debut at the Brooklyn Museum on Oct. 11 and run through Feb. 1, 2026. Tickets, ranging from $30 to $12, are on sale now.
The exhibition will feature 100 artworks, books, and ephemera, including nineteen of Monet’s Venetian paintings, according to a spokesperson for the Brooklyn Museum. It's the largest dedicated to Monet in New York City in fifteen years.
The Impressionist painter lived in Venice for a few months in 1908 and produced 37 canvases, including the famous Palazzo Ducale, which was acquired by the Brooklyn Museum in 1920, officials said.
During his time in the popular Italian city, Monet said that Venice was “too beautiful to be painted,” according to the spokesperson.
Some of the artist's other famed pieces, like the water lily canvases, will also be part of the exhibition.
“We’re delighted to present this groundbreaking exhibition offering a fresh opportunity for visitors to engage with one of the world’s most celebrated artists in a bold new way,” said Anne Pasternak, Shelby White and Leon Levy Director, Brooklyn Museum. “Through thoughtful interpretation and design, we invite our audiences to see Venice through Monet’s eyes and feel inspired by his vision.”
