KOTA: A 17-year-old coaching student,

missing

from his hostel in

Kota

for five days, was traced to Jalpaiguri in his home state West Bengal on Monday. Aryan Mitra of Siliguri, who was preparing for NEET in Kota, told police that he was homesick and left for home without informing his parents, as he was afraid they would stop him from coming.
The teen did not return to his hostel room on Feb 21 and his mobile phone was found switched off.

On his parents' request, the hostel manager lodged a missing report the next day, Kota city SP Amrita Duhan said.
A police team was formed to trace the boy. The team, based on conventional and technical investigation, traced Aryan's location between Sealdah and Jalpaiguri on the intervening night of Feb 25-26, the SP said. He was rescued and was now safe and secure in protection of his parents and police, she added.
During investigation, police found that Aryan, on his way to Siliguri, stayed in Agra for a day on Feb 22. The next day, he was in Ayodhya, from where he reached Howrah via Jaunpur and Varanasi, and was heading to Jalpaiguri from Sealdah.

A spate of student disappearances this month have posed a new challenge for Kota police. While one missing IIT-JEE aspirant, hailing from Bulandshahar in UP, was located after 11 days at Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh on Feb 23, another teen from MP preparing for the engineering entrance exam, who had gone missing on Feb 11, was found dead in a remote forest area in Chambal valley, after an exhaustive search of nine days.
