Facebook parent Meta’s CEO,

, has embarked on a short Asian tour on Monday (February 26). According to a report in Bloomberg, his itinerary includes learning the art of katana forging in Japan, discussing mixed-reality headsets in Seoul, and allegedly participating in the lavish pre-wedding celebrations of an Indian billionaire’s son.
Zuckerberg took to social media on Sunday to share a video of his unique katana forging experience with a master swordsmith. The video featured him shaping molten metal and brandishing a sword.
The 39-year-old tech titan, who was on a family vacation in Japan, had meetings lined up with Facebook developers in Tokyo this week, according to Bloomberg News.
Post his Japan visit, Zuckerberg is scheduled to visit South Korea. He planned to meet President Yoon Suk Yeol and executives from tech giants Samsung and LG, as reported by South Korean media.
Meta, in a statement to AFP, confirmed Zuckerberg’s brief visit to the country and his planned important meetings, without revealing any additional details.
AI chips on agenda?
South Korea is home to some of the world’s top tech companies, including Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. These companies lead the global memory chip industry and are among the few worldwide that produce high-end memory chips specifically for artificial intelligence processors.
Seek LG help to take on Apple?
During his South Korea visit, Zuckerberg is anticipated to meet with the CEO of tech giant LG Electronics. They are expected to discuss the development of a mixed-reality headset that could compete with Apple’s Vision Pro, as per the Korea Economic Daily.
In India, Zuckerberg is rumored to be attending the pre-wedding celebrations of Mukesh Ambani’s son, Anant Ambani with Radhika Merchant, the daughter of a prominent industrialist. The pre-wedding celebrations are slated to take place from March 1-3.
Companies like Meta and Google have invested billions in Reliance’s digital arm, Jio Platforms, as it vies for a share of India’s vast e-commerce market against Amazon and Walmart.
As per the Forbes real-time billionaires list, Ambani, 66, is the world’s 10th wealthiest person, while Zuckerberg is ranked fourth. The other 1,000 invitees from politics, business, Bollywood and cricket reportedly include Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump.
