'Leadership fatigue'
Within the BJP, voices have grown about "leadership fatigue" and transition to a new face, as witnessed in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The term of the Haryana legislative assembly is set to conclude on November 3, and assembly polls might be conducted in October.
BJP, which did not reach majority mark in 2019, runs a coalition govt in the state with Dushyant Chautala's JJP.
The Haryana Legislative Assembly, comprising 90 members, requires 46 seats for a majority. The BJP currently holds 41 MLAs and enjoys support from 6 independent MLAs. Additionally, Gopal Kanda's Haryana Lokhit Party also lends its support to the BJP.
With the JJP's separation, the BJP will have the backing of 48 MLAs. As for the Congress, it commands 30 MLAs in the assembly. Meanwhile, the JJP has 10 MLAs, the Indian National Lok Dal (Abhay Chautala) has 1 MLA, and there is 1 independent MLA.
