Man dies in partial roof collapse in Brooklyn: NYPD

MARINE PARK, Brooklyn (PIX11) --- A construction worker died after a roof of a Brooklyn building partially collapsed Thursday morning, police said.

The 43-year-old man was found unconscious in the debris after the building's roof caved in at 3223 Quentin Rd. in Marine Park at around 8:50 a.m., according to the NYPD.

The victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but could not be saved, police said.

The two-story building with a commercial unit was under construction, according to the Office of Emergency Management. Workers were repairing a refrigeration unit in the first-floor restaurant when the collapse happened, officials said.

Authorities found the worker trapped under a heavy slab of concrete in the back of the restaurant. 

The Department of Building has issued a stop-work order at the site.

The investigation is ongoing.
