Kerala-based Malayalam film producer Johnny Thomas was arrested by the Coimbatore Crime Branch police. It was after a resident of Coimbatore, Udayashankar, filed a complaint against Thomas.

Udayashankar, who is currently living in Canada, paid Rs 2.75 crore to Malayalam film producer Johnny Thomas in 2016 for the production of a film. Udayshankar complained to the Coimbatore Crime Branch that he threatened to kill him when he asked for the money back.

Following the complaint, the Coimbatore Crime Branch police registered a case against Johnny Thomas and started the investigation. Johnny Thomas, who was trying to escape abroad, was caught by the Kochi police yesterday, May 15, at Nedumbancherry airport and handed over to the Coimbatore Crime Branch.
