NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. (PIX11) – A Long Island man who killed three members of the same family in a crash while intoxicated and speeding in 2022 was sentenced to prison Monday, authorities said.
Dante Lennon, 23, of Freeport, was sentenced to six to 18 years in prison for a deadly crash that happened in New Hyde Park on May 21, 2022, according to the Nassau County District Attorney's Office.
Lennon was intoxicated and driving about twice the 35-mph speed limit on Jericho Turnpike when he crashed into the victims’ vehicle, authorities said.
The crash killed 66-year-old Marlene Luu, 68-year-old Hoa Ho and 41-year-old Tu Nguyen. The family members were leaving a Sweet 16 party in New Hyde Park when they were hit, authorities said.
“Marlene Luu and Hoa Ho were friends from childhood, loving mothers who were cornerstones of their families. Tu Nguyen was a wife and mother to a young child. They were tragically taken from their loved ones when Dante Lennon sped down Jericho Turnpike drunk and slammed into their Town Car killing them and injuring three other passengers,” Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly said in a statement.
Lennon pleaded guilty in March to aggravated vehicular homicide, second-degree manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and more.
