KKR vs SRH: Starc silences price tag critics with IPL 2024 Qualifier 1 spell

11 months ago 20

Mitchell Starc has shut down the price tag critics with his fiery spell in the IPL 2024 Qualifier 1 between KKR and SRH on May 21, Tuesday. Starc, who was bought for 24.75 crores in the IPL 2024 auction by KKR, didn't have the best of starts to the campaign as he leaked runs at an economy-rate over 10. This did receive a lot of criticism from fans and pundits.

Starc would slowly come back into form as he picked up 4 wickets against MI and once again stepped when it mattered the most against SRH on Tuesday. The Aussie pacer started things by cleaning up Travis Head off the second ball of the first over of the game with a brilliant delivery that crashed into the middle and off stump of the SRH opener.

Starc is currently got 3 wickets in his 3 overs for just 22 runs.

What commentators said about Starc's spell

Ravi Shastri was commentating during Starc's spell and said it was an answer to his critics.

"This is the answer to his critics. That's why you pay him the big bucks," said Shastri.

Kevin Pietersen said that in big moments, you need big players like Starc and was in awe of the pacer's energy and rhythm.

"You talk about the big moments and you need the big players. Have a look at the energy on that ball. Have a look at his rhythm this evening," said Starc.
