Kanpur man fined for performing dangerous wheelie stunt in front of cops

A video is doing the rounds of the internet which shows a man performing a dangerous wheelie stunt on his bike in front of police officers in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. He was fined Rs 5k for his actions.

The 10-second clip, believed to be filmed at the Ganga Barrage, features the biker executing dangerous stunts while being followed by three police officers who were also on two separate bikes. The video has a Punjabi song being played in the backdrop.

As soon as the video surfaced online, Nawabganj Police in Kanpur launched an investigation and caught hold of the man performing the stunt. He was fined Rs 5k under the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act.

Confirming the punishment awarded to the biker, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central RS Gautam told India Today that a team of police officers consisting a Superintendent of Police (SP) had been deployed for constant surveillance of the area from 7 am to 4 pm. CCTV cameras have been installed in areas to keep a check on such acts on roads.

"Any further violations will result in appropriate legal action under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act to ensure public safety and uphold law and order," he added.
