attacked by a friend and the latter's nephew for celebrating the fall of

Rohit Sharma

's wicket during a

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Mumbai Indians

match on Wednesday succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Saturday.

(63) was beaten repeatedly with a wooden block by Balawant Jhanjge (50) and nephew Sagar.

According to police, both were initially arrested on charges of attempt to murder and have now been booked for murder under IPC Section 302.

Tibile, a farmer, and Jhanjge were watching the match at a common friend's house in Hanmantwadi village of Kolhapur's Karveer tehsil. When Rohit's wicket fell, both got involved in a spat. According to the police, Tibile made certain comments that enraged Jhanjge, a Rohit fan.
Jhanjge left the spot but came back with nephew Sagar and thrashed Tibile. Inspector Kishor Shinde of Karveer police station said that Tibile died on Saturday evening.
