Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who is the world's richest man, and the co-founder of the world's most valuable public company, has experienced a remarkable career ascent. Last month, on June 18, in a single day, Huang's wealth surged by over $4 billion. This was thanks to the company's shares climbing over 3 per cent that day, which shot Huang's net worth to nearly $119 billion. Since 2019, the company’s stock has skyrocketed by an astounding 3,776 per cent, fueled by the booming demand for its key chip, essential for powering artificial intelligence technologies. With all those riches to his name, Huang's surprising early jobs, listed on LinkedIn, have recently shocked the internet.

Huang’s previous jobs on LinkedIn have recently caught the attention of users on social media and it has sent waves of shocks among people. Huang set up Nvidia with Chris Malachowsky and Curtis Priem in 1993, but before that, as per his LinkedIn, he worked as a dishwasher, busboy and waiter. His profile shows that he worked at a Diner-style restaurant called Denny’s for five years from 1978 to 1983.

Users on social media are amazed by Huang’s career journey. One user on X says, “While I was in banking, almost wanted to hire this particular waiter as a junior analyst because he was able to listen attentively while simultaneously taking multiple orders and more importantly, exhibited a high level of EQ with his customers. Everyone loves him.” “Alas, was denied to even interview him because he wasn’t from an Ivy League. One of the most important takeaways is if you can’t do the little things well in life how do you achieve greatness? Drop the ego, learn something new every day and be hands on. It’s never too late,” he adds.

Another user says, Huang’s work experience is the “most motivational thing I have ever seen”.

Jensen Huang has often shared stories about his early experiences working as a busboy, waiter, and dishwasher. In an interview with Stanford Graduate School of Business earlier this year, he attributed his success and strong work ethic to his initial job at Denny's where he proudly claimed the title of "the best dishwasher" before being promoted to busboy and putting his "best" into that role as well. These jobs, says Huang, though humble, taught him invaluable lessons in discipline, hard work, and resilience.

“I never left the station empty-handed. I never came back empty-handed. I was very efficient,” he said. “Anyways, eventually I became a CEO. I’m still working on being a good CEO,” he added. Huang has spoken about how these roles, often requiring long hours and physically demanding tasks, shaped his work ethic and leadership style. He learned to value every opportunity, no matter how small, and developed a deep appreciation for the hard work that goes into every job.
