Infosys
has lost another senior executive. Infosys senior vice president
Binny Mathews
has joined Accenture. Global IT consulting major Accenture has appointed Mathews as its chief procurement officer and head of the company’s Procurement Plus (P+) capability. “Mathews will be responsible for leading the strategic direction for Accenture’s global procurement spend.
This includes continuing the transformation of the company’s supply chain into a sustainable, diverse value chain, committed to responsible and profitable buying and 360° supplier partnerships,” Nasdaq-listed Accenture said in a statement.
Matthews said, “I’m excited to lead Procurement Plus and continue advancing Accenture’s global leadership in responsible buying, with sustainability, transparency, agility and inclusivity underscoring how we work with our suppliers around the world and across the marketplace.”
“Binny will play a critical role in how we power innovation, growth and business continuity for the organization, ensuring that our global strategy is executed based on local demand, and that we lead with data-driven ways to deliver value,” said Margaret Smith, senior managing director and executive director of corporate services and sustainability at Accenture.
Spent 15 years at Infosys
An Infosys veteran, Mathews was a senior vice president and group head of procurement at the company. Mathews joined Accenture on January 3, 2024. With this, Mathews, who was with Infosys for 15 years, joins the list of senior executives who have left the company since last year. Previously, Mathews worked at the Tata Group, FreeMarkets (now SAP Ariba) and Marico in the procurement divisions.
The 'poaching saga' continues
The year 2023 has seen several senior IT executives joining rival companies. Both Infosys and
Wipro
have lost several key level senior executives to rival companies. In 2023 alone, Infosys has lost around ten senior executives to its competition.
This has also resulted in at least two lawsuits by Wipro against its former employees who joined competitor Cognizant. Infosys too has reportedly written a strong communication to Cognizant alleging the global company of “unethical poaching tactics”.
In September 2023, Accenture also announced company-wide restructuring. The company announced five senior-level appointments including Manish Sharma as its North America CEO, John Walsh as its chief operating officer, Steve Ferneyhough as chief strategic accounts & global sales officer, Paul Daugherty as chief technology & innovation officer and Karthik Narain to be the group chief executive for technology.
