PM's summit talks with Russian President, terrorists' method of strike in Kathua

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in Moscow, will be holding extensive bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Ahead of the summit talks, both leaders met unofficially at the Russian President's residence, which included a walk to the garden and horse stable and a ride around the residence in a golf cart. In a significant development, Russia has agreed to discharge Indian nationals misled into joining the Russian army. A day after the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua killed five army personnel, extensive search operations are ongoing in the area. According to sources, a group of 2-3 terrorists, armed with sophisticated weapons, targeted an army vehicle on Monday evening. Advanced US-made rifles and powerful grenades were used in the attack. The terrorists, who received local support for their route and hideout, fled from the scene after the attack. Initial probes also suggest a recce of the attack was held. Mihir Shah, the son of a Shiv Sena leader who killed a woman with his BMW, is still absconding. The police have intensified the search for the accused as Chief Minister Eknath Shinde promises strict action.
