Islamabad: In a major blow to Imran Khan-led

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf

(PTI), the

Pakistan Supreme Court

on Saturday denied the party its iconic electoral symbol of cricket bat by nullifying the recent order of the Peshawar high court that restored the symbol.
On Thursday, the

Election Commission of Pakistan

(ECP) approached the country's top court against the

Peshawar HC

verdict, contending that the PTI had held its intra-party polls "secretly" but were not in accordance with the party's constitution.

A three-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa heard the ECP challenge. The court announced its reserved verdict against the PTI at 11:30pm Saturday.
