KANNUR: IUML national general secretary P K Kunhalikutty on Saturday said
UDF candidate
in Wayanad
Rahul Gandhi
should contest from an additional seat in
north India
if it would help INDIA bloc to win more seats.
"BJP and Prime Minister
Narendra Modi
are facing the fear of losing the
LS election
. Reactions of Modi in a recent interview clearly indicated that fear.
Modi claimed that Rahul will find another seat in north India after the second phase of general election. Why can't he contest from one more seat? We support it," Kunhalikutty told a news conference.
"For the people of Kerala, it is not imperative that Rahul should be here. The people mainly want a
secular govt
at the Centre under the leadership of
Congress party
. If Rahul's fight from a north Indian seat helps the party secure more seats, it will definitely be good. However, a final call should be taken by Congress," he added.
On the green flag controversy, he said LDF has no moral right to criticise UDF for not allowing green flag as they had forcefully changed flag and symbol of one of their allies.
