"This has been my passion project, and I’ve been working on it for years. We have 170 participants from across the country," says Kailash Kher about 'Bharat Ka Amrit Kalash'
Kailash Kher is all set to mentor and produce India’s first folk
singing reality show
,
Bharat Ka Amrit Kalash
. The
Padmashri awardee
says, “We often talk about our folk culture and its diversity, but we don’t celebrate or live it. Folk is not just music and art, it is a lifestyle, jo humein virasat mein mili hai. But people didn’t realise its importance, and it was almost becoming extinct. I’ve been in the industry for 18 years and always wanted to promote our rich folk culture among today’s generation as it’s our roots."
Talking about the show, he adds, “Bharat ke kisi bhi manch ya channel par aisa reality show nahi hai. Whenever our traditional art forms are presented in the garb of fusion music, people lap it up. But why dilute the original? This has been my passion project, and I’ve been working on it for years. We have 170 participants from across the country, and each one of them is a complete artiste. This initiative has received immense support from Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting.” Produced by Kailasa Entertainment, the 52-episode show, which premieres today on DD National, will air every Saturday and Sunday at 7 pm.
