THANE:

Shiv Sena

led by Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray has suffered a major setback before the Loksabha election in

Kalyan Lok Sabha

constituency. Just two days after the Kalyan Lok Sabha candidate was announced, hundreds of

party workers

from Uddhav's Shiv Sena left the party and joined

Eknath Shinde

's Shiv Sena.
The workers in large numbers on Thursday night joined the party at Varsha bungalow in presence of chief minister Eknath Shinde and Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Shrikant Shinde.

Those who joined the party include a large number of women party workers along with prominent local leaders from Ulhasnagar city comes under Kalyan Lok sabha constituency.
During this time, senior journalist Kiran Sonawane also joined party. It may be recall that two days ago, Shiv Sena (UBT) had declared former corporator Vaishali Darekar as their party's candidate from Kalyan Lok Sabha.

Chief minister's son Shrikant Shinde is a two-time MP from this seat and this time again he is expected to get a ticket from this seat.
Shrikant is being seen as a strong candidate from here, in such a situation, if a large number of workers of Uddhav's group join Shinde's Shiv Sena, then Darekar may have to face the brunt of it in the upcoming elections.
