, their kids always use, upholds the tradition of complimentary herbs with vegetable purchases.
Blinkit announced that it will now provide free
coriander
(
Dhaniya
) with orders. The decision came shortly after a customer shared on social media that his mother had a "mini heart attack" upon discovering she had to pay for coriander while ordering
vegetables
on the app.
Ankit Sawant took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his mother's surprise and suggested that Blinkit bundle free coriander with a certain amount of vegetable purchases. Blinkit's CEO,
Albinder Dhindsa
, promptly responded, assuring that the feature would be implemented.
Within hours, Dhindsa announced the launch of the 'free Dhaniya' feature, thanking Sawant's mother for the idea. He added that the company would refine the feature over the next few weeks. The move was met with enthusiasm from customers, many of whom praised Blinkit for listening to their concerns and acting swiftly.
Traditionally, local vegetable vendors in India often provide complimentary coriander and green chilies (mirchi) with purchases. This practice, however, had not been adopted by online grocery platforms until now.
You won't need to remind Blinkit to include some coriander. Dhinda didn't specify the minimum order value or quantity of vegetables required to get the free coriander. We decided to test this ourselves by ordering some vegetables from Blinkit, and we found out that you would need to purchase vegetables worth at least Rs 500 in the Delhi NCR region to be eligible for the complimentary 100 grams of coriander.
Customers are delighted to get the complimentary Dhaniya when they make online purchases. Some have even suggested that Blinkit should consider providing other free herbs and vegetables like curry leaves and green chilies in the future.
