NEW DELHI: As many as 81

tourists

who were stranded in Himachal Pradesh's

Spiti Valley

due to

heavy snowfall

have been safely moved to secure locations, according to the police.
The closure of roads following avalanches and landslides caused by continuous rain and snow has led to the blockage of over 650 roads, including five national highways, in the state. The stranded tourists were relocated to various hotels and homestays in Spiti Valley's Lahaul and Spiti district.

Additionally, the tribal district has experienced blocked roads and power outages for the past two days. The heavy precipitation has also disrupted the mobile network in Lahaul and Spiti. An avalanche near Jasrat village in Lahaul and Spiti has obstructed the Chenab river flow, resulting in an alert being issued for the surrounding area.
Residents of adjacent villages have been advised to remain cautious and contact the nearest police post in case of an emergency. Cold wave conditions persist throughout the state.
