NEW DELHI: In a major setback to the BJP in Haryana, its

Member of Parliament

from Hisar resigned from the primary membership of the saffron party on Sunday, citing '

compelling political reasons

.' He is likely to join the

Congress

later today.

"I have resigned from the primary membership of BJP,due to compelling political reasons. I extend gratitude to the party, National President Sh.

JP Nadda, Prime Minister Sh.

Narendra Modi

, & Sh. Amit Shah for giving me the opportunity to serve as the Member of Parliament for Hisar," he posted on X.
The former bureaucrat later reached the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi.
