two daughters
in arms, a 32-year-old woman jumped from the fourth floor of a
building in Barola
on Wednesday afternoon. While the woman and her four-year-old daughter died, the younger girl (3) is on life support at a private hospital.
The woman's husband, Manoj, was out for work at a hospital canteen while the couple's eldest daughter was in school when she jumped off around 1pm.
Police said they received a call from a neighbour that a woman had jumped off a building along with her two daughters. A team from Sector 49 police station reached the spot and took the heavily injured three to hospital.
"The elder of the two girls died before she could reach the hospital, while the woman succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Another three-year-old girl is under critical care," said Manish Mishra, additional DCP (Noida).
Police said they were questioning family members to find out what prompted the woman to take the step. Manoj said the couple were married for nine years and were neither facing any financial problems nor any marital discord. "We have not found any suicide note yet. But Manoj claimed his wife had been feeling queasy over the past few days," another police officer said. No case has been lodged in the matter yet.
