MUMBAI: Even though the

Mumbai Cricket Association

has received a green signal from the

BCCI

to conduct the

T20 Mumbai League

, fresh doubts have emerged over the revival of the tournament due to a technical issue pointed out by the parent body.
In a communication to the

MCA

on Sunday, the BCCI has stated: "The BCCI is pleased to grant you the approval to organize the tournament for 2024.

Please note that the advisory issued by the erstwhile Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators of the BCCI vide their email dated 5 July, 2018 ("Advisory") must be adhered to while hosting the tournament. A copy of the advisory is attached for your ready reference."
As per the fourth point of the advisory, regarding the "window for the tournament", a staging association "is not allowed to conduct the tournament during the IPL and/or fifteen (15) days before or after the IPL and/or during 15th September to end of February every year."
While the MCA wants to start the MPL on May 27, a day after the IPL final, as per the advisory sent by the BCCI, the MCA can't stage the MPL before June 12, keeping the 15-day gap in mind.

Considering the onset of the monsoon in June, also a time when the red soil at the Wankhede Stadium is put, it will be almost impossible to organise the MPL at that time. On Monday, the MCA held an emergent meeting of the Apex Council with the T20 League Governing Council at the MCA

Sharad Pawar

Indoor Cricket Academy and Recreation Centre in BKC to discuss the conduct of the T20 Mumbai League.
