Four dead in fatal crash on the Taconic State Parkway: NYSP

NEW CASTLE, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Four people have died in connection with a fatal car crash on the Taconic State Parkway in Westchester County Wednesday evening, according to New York State Police.

The incident happened near mile marker 9.2 around 5:30 p.m.

Police investigations determined that a Sprinter van traveling south crossed the center median and hit a northbound sedan.

The van overturned and became engulfed in flames, police say. Three occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver is in critical condition at the Westchester Medical Center.

The driver of the sedan was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police say.

The crash shut down the northbound lanes of the Taconic State Parkway. Anyone who witnessed or has relevant information is asked to contact New York State Police at (845) 677-7300.
