Swami Prasad Maurya

for allegedly making indecent remarks on goddess Laxmi and other

Hindu deities

The petition was filed by Ragini Rastogi said that on Nov 15, 2023, Maurya’s statement was published in the newspaper.

The title was, ‘How could Lakshmi be born with four hands?’
In her complaint, Ragini Rastogi of Chowk said she read a piece of news in which Maurya jeered at goddess Laxmi saying how a goddess having four hands can take birth. “Maurya later wrote in a post at X that every human child who takes birth has two hands, two legs, two eyes, two ears, two nostrils, a head, a stomach and a back in this world and they may be belonging to different race religions, caste and culture. Till this date, no human being of four hands, eight hands, ten hands, twenty hands and one thousand hands has born till this date how the goddess Laxmi has four hands,” she stated while quoting to the post allegedly written by Maurya.
She alleged that Maurya’s statement was aimed to insult the Hindus and to vitiate the communal harmony in the society. “His statement had inflamed the religious sentiments of the Hindus and this had created hatred in the society and the followers of Hindu goddesses are feeling humiliated,” she alleged. She said the police should register a case against Maurya.
Additional DCP, West Zone, Vishwajeet Srivastava, said that the police registered a case on the instruction of a court in Lucknow under the charges of IPC 153 A (promoting enmity), 505 (2) (statements creating hatred) and 67 IT act.
