BIJNOR: The Uttar Pradesh forest department is set to develop the first '

tourism village

' near

Amangarh Tiger Reserve

(ATR) in

Bijnor

's

Devanandpur

. According to forest officials, the village will be transformed in view of increasing

footfall

of tourists visiting the reserve.
The village houses around 50 families, who will be stakeholders in the initiative. Since there is no resort for tourists to stay here, administration is planning to permit Devanandpur residents to allow tourists to stay at their homes, on the lines of Ayodhya and Rajasthan's homestay culture. This would also give a boost to the local economy with new jobs.
Bijnor divisional forest officer (DFO) Arun Kumar Singh said, "To boost eco-tourism in the state, plans are afoot to develop Devanandpur as a tourism village. As part of the project, the state will focus on infrastructural development such as building adventure parks and beautification of the area by placing statues of animals here. In addition to that, roads will be broadened from Badigarh to Kehripur villages."
