Farmer leaders detained in Coimbatore, farmers to disrupt rail traffic at Shambhu on Monday if not released

BATHINDA: The leaders of two farmer forums; SKM Non Political and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha were detained by Coimbatore Police on Sunday when they wanted to burn effigy of the central government while demanding legal guarantee of minimum support price on all crops as per C2+50%. The detained farmer leaders included

KMM convener Sarvan Singh Pandher

, Manjit Singh Rai, Harvinder Singh and Guramneet Singh.

They had reached Coimbatore on Sunday morning to join the ongoing Asthi Kalash Yatra of slain farmer Shubkaran Singh and were detained from a Hotel. When the farmers were being taken in a police vehicle, the farmers raised slogans against central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
They accused BJP leaders of Coimbatore behind stopping farmers from holding protest.

border said that if the detained leaders were not released immediately then the rail traffic blockade at Shambhu will be advanced by a day and it will be disrupted on Monday instead of earlier call given for disrupting rail traffic on April 9.
Sarvan Singh Pandher said that they were prevented from burning an effigy to protest against the central government's excesses and arrests of farmers in Haryana.
In the meanwhile, the effigies of central government were burnt at various places across Punjab and Haryana.
