Actor Fahmaan Khan is back on television with ‘Krishna Mohini’, a new show on Colors TV. While the makers haven't opened up about the theme, the multiple promos have hinted that the show is based on the sexuality of a young boy.

In an exclusive chat with IndiaToday. In, Fahmaan Khan shared that it's important to tell such different and sensitive stories on television. He added that while people know about such subjects, it's important for them to understand it, and their show could become that medium.

“I understand it's a sensitive subject and it's a thin line to tread. But honestly, if they don't accept this show, I think people should stop questioning television. They should then stop calling it a regressive medium. We are trying something new, and something very important. While every show has its own fate, we are hoping people, especially in the small town, will embrace this show,” Fahmaan said.

When asked if he feels television has the power to change society, Fahmaan Khan said that given the number of people who watch it, there should be a domino effect.

He elaborated, "What is a society? It's us, the people. And from what I have heard from my fans, they do get impacted by these shows and characters. I have young audiences messaging me that they would have taken drastic steps in life if it wasn't for my characters [that they loved]. They consider them their heroes and learn from them. And because they watch them daily, they also form a very strong connection. So even if it helps a few, it will help more in the long run. A seed is sown for sure, but we can never anticipate its growth.”

The actor, who rose to fame with ‘Imlie’, further discussed how his personal life often makes headlines, more than his work. He also added that he remains unhinged about it.

“Honestly, if you are benefitting from making stories about me, so be it. I may have a Casanova image in public but I know the reality, and so do my loved ones. I do meet a lot of people for work, I befriend them, and we build bonds but that doesn't mean we are dating. Every relationship doesn't need to be romantic. I just laugh about all these rumours and wonder why people are even interested in my love life,” he said.

Have the constant linkups rumours become an issue in his personal life? He said, "I have managed to keep my personal and professional life very separate, and that has worked for me. If you start letting it intersect, it can become really troublesome. For me, whatever one is interpreting about me is their issue, not mine. I will never go and clarify myself to anyone. I am true to myself and people close to me, and that's about it. I am not going to change myself, just to change my public image.”

‘Krishna Mohini’ is airing on Colors TV. It also features Debattama Saha and Ketaki Kulkarni, who play siblings weathering societal pressures and norms.
