The ongoing feud between Bigg Boss Malayalam 6 contestants
Ratheesh Kumar
and
Jaanmoni Das
has sparked widespread controversy, with former contestant and transgender activist
Nadira Mehrin
taking a stand against Ratheesh's remarks.
Expressing her disappointment, Nadira confronted Ratheesh, highlighting the issue of consent and gender biases.
"Don't touch me without my consent.
I have a problem when Jaanmoni is touching me. People will misunderstand me. I have a family. But I am okay if you, my sisters, touch me! - Why is it so? Why can't Jaanmoni be your sister? Oh, when a transgender touches, it's perceived with wrong intentions. Are you still living in that utopian time?" she wrote in a note.
Former contestant Daisy David also weighed in on the situation, criticizing Ratheesh for his behavior. "OMG, this fellow is very irritating. I quit watching the show because of him," she wrote.
For the unversed, the controversy stems from a recent episode where Jaanmoni was seen greeting housemates with morning hugs. However, when she attempted to embrace Ratheesh, he reacted negatively, expressing discomfort and warning her not to touch him without his permission. Ratheesh further elaborated on his concerns, expressing fear over potential future interactions and mentioning his wife.
While Ratheesh's comments have sparked outrage and debate, Jaanmoni has maintained her innocence, stating that her gestures were meant to be friendly and apologizing if they were misinterpreted.
