NEW DELHI: The Ernakulam Lok Sabha constituency went to polls on April 26 during the second phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 along with other constituencies in Kerala. The polling percentage 68.29 was amongst the highest in the country. Encompassing urban and semi-urban areas, this parliamentary seat mirrors Kerala's socio-economic mosaic.
In the 2019 parliamentary elections, Congress candidate Hibi Eden emerged victorious, securing 4,91,263 votes (50.78%), while LDF's P.

Rajeev garnered 3,22,110 votes (33.3%). The constituency witnessed a high voter turnout of 77.6%.

In the 2014 elections, the Congress's K.V. Thomas won, solidifying the party's stronghold in the region. Reflecting its active participation in the democratic process.

Demographically, Ernakulam is a microcosm of Kerala's diversity, with significant Hindu, Christian, and Muslim populations. Hindus constitute around 53.2% of the electorate, Christians 32.1%, and Muslims 14.8%. Additionally, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe voters add to the electoral diversity, comprising 7.4% and 0.5% respectively. The constituency includes the following assembly segments: Ernakulam, Kochi, Thrippunithura, Kalamassery, Paravur, Vypin, and Kunnathunad.
